Film Studies/History graduate, using my love and knowledge of the medium to pass as a critic. To my editor’s chagrin, I typically like to go over my word count in discussing films. Most if not all my reviews are originally written within an hour of finishing the film, so that I can deliver an unfiltered, raw, genuine, in the moment, thought process to you. My taste is eclectic (both in film and music), but I have a strong preference for 80s Cult/Sleaze films, Sci-fi, War, Chambara, Fantasy, and Psychological Thrillers. Thanks for giving us a read and I hope you’ve enjoyed your visit! Long live physical media; long live VHS. Remember: watch whatever, whenever, with whomever.

Riders of Justice

Anders Thomas Jensen‘s fifth and latest film working with fellow Dane Mads Mikkelsen, and I believe the fourth collaboration with excellent co-stars Nicolas Bro and Nikolaj Lie Kaas. Riders of Justice might just be my favourite film of the year thus far as well as one I’m comfortable saying, in comparison to Another Round, is…

The Killing of Two Lovers

Director, writer, editor Robert Machoian‘s The Killing of Two Lovers is one I’ve been keeping an eye on since it got picked up by NEON. A pseudo-thriller seamlessly disguised as a very raw marriage break-up story, focusing on a small-town high-school sweetheart couple who has, after four children, decided to take a break. When our…

HELD

“Isn’t that heaven on earth. It’s the way a marriage should be, before feminism and political-correctness muddied the waters. Simpler. Better times.“ Directed by the duo behind Blumhouse’s The Gallows, Chris Lofing and Travis Cliff, Frightfest official selection HELD sees a departure from the supernatural horror aspect. With some #MeToo movement subtext, HELD bolsters more…

Best of 2020- Lee

To say “What a year we’ve had” would not only be an understatement, but an unwanted cue for an unnecessary flashback reminding us of the whole catastrophic chapter we’ve been through. But that’s just it: “we’ve been through.” Riding some massive ups and downs that put any roller coaster in the history of mankind to…

The Devil All the Time

“Blessed…are they who hunger and thirst…for righteousness.” Whether it be a couple of cold ones, a couple of poachers, some unsuspecting hitchhikers, predatory preachers, or corrupt ne’er-do-wells, the people of Knockemstiff, Ohio certainly live up to their town’s namesake. The Devil All the Time is my third most anticipated film of 2020, behind Dune and…

Da 5 Bloods

“When you take 20 million black people and make them fight all your wars and pick all your cotton and never give them any real recompense, sooner or later their allegiance towards you is going to wear thin.”  Spike Lee opens up his latest joint, Da 5 Bloods, with a shockingly well timed, eye-opening montaged…

TFW NO GF

“There’s a dichotomy. You can’t talk about Wojack and not bring up Pepe, because they go together as the duality of man. The Pepe is like your troll-self, your public persona…then on the other half we have our Wojack. He’s like our private selves, who isn’t like that at all: he’s very depressed, feels inadequate,…
